EU RED certification introduction
    The 1999/5/EC Directive has been in place for many years and many places cannot meet existing products. In fact, the EU has already begun drafting new instructions in 2007, but the progress is not so fast, so in 2011, a draft was submitted to the European Commission. Finally, on May 22, 2014, the EU officially announced a new version of the wireless device. Directive RED 2014/53/EU, which was prepared based on the EU's new CE Framework Resolution 768/2008/EC, which replaced the original EU Wireless Equipment Directive R&TTE-D 1999/5/EC. Since the EU officially announced the new directive and came into effect, there is a two-year transition period. From June 13, 2016, the original R&TTE Directive 1999/5/EC will be abolished, and products that have been evaluated according to the old directive can continue to be sold. June 13, 2017. After June 13, 2017, only wireless devices evaluated in accordance with the new RED 2014/53/EU are allowed on the EU market. The purpose of the new directive is to clarify the scope of spectrum use, improve the effectiveness of spectrum use, and facilitate regulations and market surveillance between member countries.
    Before a wireless product can be legally sold in an EU country, it must be certified according to the RED Directive and must also have a CE-mark. Wireless remote control products must comply with the RED Directive RED 2014/53/EU.
RED certification scope
    1. Short-range wireless remote control products (SRD) such as: remote control toy car, remote alarm system, remote doorbell, remote control switch, remote control mouse, keyboard, etc.;
     2, professional radio remote control products (PMR) such as: professional wireless walkie-talkie, wireless microphone, etc.;
     3. Wireless telephone CTO, CT1, CT1;
     4, ISDN (digital telephone products);
     5. DECT (Enhanced Digital Radiotelephone);
     6, mobile phone GSM, CDMA test;
     7, Bluetooth products such as: Bluetooth headset;
     8. Inductive data transmission equipment with operating frequency <9 kHz;
    9、无线广播接收机设备。
The difference between RED certification and the old version of R&TTE
    1. The RED product range includes only wireless communication and wireless identification devices (such as RFID, radar, motion detection, etc.). Radio frequency equipment not used for communication or identification will be in the control of electromagnetic compatibility EMC directive and low voltage LVD instruction;
    2. The wired communication terminal equipment (TTE) is removed, so the RED instruction is only for wireless products;
    3. The radio receiver is now included in the scope of the RED Directive (previously covered in the EMC EMC Directive and the Low Voltage LVD Directive);
    4. The lower limit of the instruction coverage frequency has been canceled (previously the R&TTE control start frequency is 9 kHz), and the upper limit is still 3000 GHz;
    5. The evaluation opinions of the notified body have been replaced by the “type inspection certificate”;
    6. The manufacturer can use the CE mark (Complete Quality Assurance – Type H) with the number of the notified body only after its quality system has been evaluated by the notified body;
    7. The requirements for the notification of Class 2 equipment to national spectrum agencies are no longer required;
    8. The identification (warning number) of the second type of equipment is no longer needed, but the warnings that are restricted for use in some countries still need to appear on the product packaging;
    9. The CE mark no longer needs to appear in the user manual, but the frequency band and transmit power used by the radio frequency must be indicated in the manual;
    10. The kit for personal evaluation is no longer subject to control (ie no RED certification is required);
    11. The new directive requires the use of a unified charger;
    12. The address and contact information of the manufacturer and importer must appear on the device, and when the device is too small, it can appear in the user manual.
    These existing changes and other future changes will affect your product certification in this year and in the next few years, so you must start to consider the new directives in the design and marketing of your products, especially for new Products added to the instruction, such as:
    Wireless broadcast receiver device;
    Inductive data transmission equipment operating at <9 kHz.
    According to the new EU Framework Resolution 768/2008/EC, the RED Directive also clearly defines the responsibilities of manufacturers, importers, distributors and EU representatives. The name of the manufacturer and importer and the address that can be contacted must be identified on the product or on the accompanying instructions.
RED certification test project
    1. Electromagnetic compatibility test (EMC test);
     2, safety test LVD (in the new instruction, for the battery input RF products, this test is also required);
     3. Conducting radio communication equipment testing (RF testing) according to European ETSI standards;
     4. Notification of information on the spectrum allowed in Europe;
     5, CTR (TBR) test;
     6. Electrical safety and health protection testing (SAR assessment).
Information required for RED certification
    1. User manual;
     2. Circuit schematic diagram;
     3. Block diagram (also called module function diagram);
     4. Circuit trace diagram (PCB LAYOUT);
     5. Circuit placement diagram (PCB placement);
     6. Operational description (interpretation of the block diagram);
     7. BOM LIST;
     8.label (label);
     9. Antenna specifications (or antenna gain map);
     10. Charger LVD report;
     11. Fixed-frequency software (also called fixed-frequency program. Enables the transmitting module to be continuously transmitted at a certain frequency point, generally BT and WIFI must be provided).
RED certification cycle
    Regular 3-4 weeks, can be expedited.
