Introduction to Thailand NBTC Certification
The National Broadcasting Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has set clear regulatory restrictions for telecommunications equipment, telecommunications terminal equipment and wireless products. Since July 1, 2008, for telecommunications equipment, telecommunications terminal equipment, originally targeted at mobile phones. Existing mandatory specifications for communications products will be extended to wireless related products.
NBTC certification mode
Certification will be carried out in the following three modes: the classification of the product must be determined before the applicable certification mode can be determined:
Class A Approval
Class A products must be tested in the NBTC designated laboratory and provided with the NBTC required data to obtain the login number and certificate.
B mode (Class B Approval)
The certification procedure is the same as the Class A product category. It can only use foreign reports such as FCC, CE, CB ... to apply for certification in the transfer mode, and must also obtain the login number and certification.
Supplier΄s Declaration of Conformity(SDoC)
This part of the product certification is a voluntary model, which must be completed by the local representative of the customer in Thailand, and the technical documents should be sent to NTC for reference.
A local representative is required to apply for certification and the local representative must have a Suppliers Code and apply in Thai.
Basically, the certification time is 4~5 weeks. The sample requirement is required in Class A. It must be provided in Class B for occasional compliance review requirements, but not in SDoC mode.
Products for WiFi (such as 802.11b/g or 802.11a/b/g) are classified as SDoC. Although NBTC announced in 2003 that the 2.4GHz product has an output power below 100mW, it can be exempted from type approval. However, this regulation will be changed after July 2008. WiFi products can only be imported into Thailand after confirming that their products meet the technical requirements of NBTC. Manufacturers need to attach a declaration letter and related documents when they clear customs.
